President Cheryl Schrader led her first commencement at Wright state University on Saturday, Dec. 16.
Students, families, faculty and staff joined the graduating class in the Nutter Center to celebrate the commencement of nearly 1,900 students.
“Begin thinking about what your legacy will be. Will you be an innovative trailblazer like our namesakes, the Wright brothers? Will you continue their pioneering spirit and change the world in your own unique way?” Schrader said.
Schrader recognized the graduating class of fall 2017 for each students years of commitment and excellence in their pursuit of earning a degree through the university, according to a WSU Newsroom article.
“As we look ahead to your future and the exciting possibilities and opportunities it holds, I am reminded of the words of Wilbur Wright: ‘It is not really necessary to look too far into the future. We see enough already to be certain that it will be magnificent,'” said Schrader.
According to the Retiree Association, the graduating class featured students from 34 states and 30 different nations. There were 365 international students and around 1,100 from Raider Country. The graduating class ranges in age from 19 to 72.
Lake Campus congratulated 40 graduates at this year’s commencement ceremony.
