Inexpensive options for your upcoming spring break

Spring break begins on Feb. 26, which means most students plan to head home or go somewhere exciting on a vacation. Whether you're on campus or not, there are still plenty of affordable and inexpensive options a student can do when they don't have the means to travel.

Going home during spring break is an option, as it grants the opportunity for a student to see their family and friends, but it can also inspire them for an adventure.

"I'll probably go home and visit my family for a while, and I might go to the Newport Aquarium or take a daytrip to somewhere that's close and haven't been to. There are some museums in Cincinnati I'd like to go too," student Alix Homes said.

Student discounts are often given for places such as the museum, so calling ahead to find out is a good idea. Working during spring break can be an inexpensive choice as it is a way to earn money and catching up with friends is another fantastic solution.

"I usually work which is good – I work on campus at the Rec desk. We get lot more available hours. I live in the area, so I usually try to make time for my friends who are also home because I am pretty busy throughout the semester," Clinical Lab Science major, Madison Bareline said.

Venturing out to the trails near campus or a Five Rivers MetroParks is a free possibility as well. "If it's not too cold, I usually go hiking. Some of my friends and I might go to Hocking Hills for a little bit for the first weekend of spring break," Bareline said.

Spring break is meant to be relaxing and there are multiple inexpensive options available to you so whether it's staying at home with your pet or perusing a library, you'll find the right choice for you.
