On Saturday morning in the front of the White House, a man shot himself in the head as reported by D.C authorities and the Secret Service.
In a tweet by the U.S Secret Service, they wrote during the ongoing incident: "Secret Service personnel are responding to reports of a person who allegedly suffered a self-inflicted gun-shot wound along the north fence line of @WhiteHouse."
The man approached the fence lining with a concealed gun and proceeded to fire multiple shots, according to the Secret Service agents in a CNN report, which were not targeted at the White House. D.C authorities told a variety of news outlets that the man who shot himself is being considered a suicide attempt.
"No other reported injuries related to the incident at @WhiteHouse," the Secret Service wrote in a secondary tweet as the situation unfolded.
White House security was also considerably tightened around the perimeter. D.C police spent "four hours Saturday afternoon searching a maroon Honda Accord with an Alabama license plate parked on the street near the Capital Hilton hotel," stated in the CNN report, where they found several materials including pictures, documents, and miscellaneous objects.
The name of the man has yet to be released to the public as authorities are scouring for his relatives.
