President Trump celebrates Syrian airstrikes

On Friday, April 13, at 9 p.m., airstrikes on three Syrian targets were launched in response to the alleged chemical weapon attacks by Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's regime on Syrian civilians.
President Trump sent out a tweet after the launch saying, "A perfectly executed strike last night. Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!"

The President quickly added that he is, "So proud of our great Military which will soon be, after the spending of billions of fully approved dollars, the finest that our Country has ever had. There won’t be anything, or anyone, even close!"

This retaliation has been discussed for a week by the United States, France and the United Kingdom, before the launch was enacted.

According to a CNN report, "Defense Secretary James Mattis told reporters Friday that the missiles were a 'one-time shot' for now, but that the strike sent a 'strong message' to 'deter' Assad from carrying out another chemical attack."

Mattis continued to say the Assad regime did not get the message in the past, so "This time our allies and we have struck harder." Mattis assured that the United States took great measures to avoid foreign or civilian casualties.

The strikes were targeted to Damascus, where the home of the chemical weapons used by Assad's regime was. The Pentagon assured that the strikes successfully hit every target. CNN reported that this morning, hundreds took to the streets in Damascus to celebrate. Assad later issued a statement stating, "This aggression will only increase the determination of Syria and its people to continue fighting and crushing terrorism in every inch of the country." The United Nation's security council held a meeting after the strikes.
