The Wright State chapter of NAACP will host a Unity Walk at noon this Friday, engaging the campus community in a march intended to inspire oneness.

"It's an opportunity for everyone to step outside their comfort zones and unite together as a Wright State family,” said Asia Miller, president of NAACP at Wright State.

Participants will meet in Millet Hall, where they will have the opportunity to interact with each other. They will then take part in “speed dating.” Everyone will gather in a circle; some will step inside the circle and have one minute to talk to others inside before stepping back out, Miller said.

"The point of this is to meet people you wouldn't otherwise meet because you run in different circles or because you might not be comfortable around other people,” Miller said.

Walkers will then begin the march, carrying signs around campus. Miller will teach them a few positive chants, then they will circle the campus.

The walk is open to students and faculty. Interested individuals may attend a poster-making event sponsored by Student Affairs in 141 Millett Hall on Thursday at 3 p.m.
