On Oct. 4 at Levitt Pavilion, Dayton’s very first bubble tea food truck was launched. The school bus converted food truck is known as Billie Gold Bubble Tea, owned by Nicole Cornett. Along with her husband Britton Asbury, she runs Cloak & Dagger Tattoo Studio in Dayton and Salon Lofts in Kettering.

“We tried to get a building and we were going to open a store front but it fell through. I knew I still wanted to bring bubble tea to Dayton,” said Cornett. “I can’t remember who said ‘food truck’; if it was my husband, me or a friend, but someone said it and we couldn’t stop thinking about it.”

This led to her contacting custom creations in Dayton and having them build a food truck.

Billie Gold, the name of the food truck, travels all over the Dayton area for different events and parties. The food truck is also available for bookings.

“Maybe in the future we will have other locations or other trucks. We are open to where the future takes us,” said Cornett.

When asked about the name “Billie Gold”, Cornett said it was meant to be the name of their child.

“We have three boys, and if we had a girl, we would have named her Billie Gold,” she said with a laugh. “But we have a food truck and it’s the same as a baby.”

Billie Gold’s menu consists of a variety of bubble teas, a signature drink and a ‘build your own’ option. Rose Gold, their signature drink, is a blend of black tea, coconut milk, rose and coconut along with tapioca balls. Another popular drink, the Gold brew, features coffee from local coffee shop Press, balanced out with lightly sweetened almond milk.

If you are in an adventurous mood, ‘build your own’ is the perfect choice. First, you pick the type of drink you want, fruit, fruit milk tea, yoghurt drink and so on, then build your drink up with your choice of flavors.

“Stephanie, who is our main bubble tea drink slinger, did the math and thinks there are over 2,000 combinations of drinks you can make with the options we have,” said Cornett. “So you can come to the truck and never have the same thing twice!”

Apart from beverages, vegan and gluten-free treats from Cakes by Cookie are available. Cakes, cookies, and even vegan Twinkies are offered. Combined with your favorite bubble tea, what more could you ask for?
