Although it feels like it is already, winter is almost here, which means Christmas lights and decorations have been put up to get into the holiday spirit. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, this is a great time to get cozy and enjoy the beauty this season brings.
One of the beautiful things about this time of this year is not only the velvety white snow, but the gorgeous light decorations that are put up. If you are someone who looks forward to Christmas light displays, here are several places you and friends or family can check out:
Clifton Mill
With more than four million lights and over 30 years of practice, Clifton Mill is a holiday staple. Featured on ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight and nominated as one of USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice 2018 Travel Awards, Clifton Mill is a must. Enter a “winter wonderland” that made its way to an ABC special. Admission is just $10.
Land of Illusion: Christmas Glow
If you are an avid haunted house goer during Halloween, you might be surprised to hear that Land of Illusion has a light show for the holidays. Drive through one and a half miles of three million lights and holiday displays. Then, shop at the Christmas Glow gift shop, visit Santa’s Workshop and end the night off at the Christmas Village where you can sit by a fire and drink hot chocolate. Monday through Wednesday is the drive-thru only at $16 per car load and Thursday through Sunday is both the drive-thru and Christmas Village at $20 per car load. Their website reads, “By visiting us you will also be making others’ Christmas Season bright – by bringing a canned good you get $2 off park admission and we will donate that item to The Hope House Mission of Middletown. Also – new this year, we are partnering with Toys for Tots and will be one of their sponsored drop-off locations. We hope to see you soon!”
Kings Island WinterFest
As if Kings Island couldn’t be any more fun, Winter Fest is a blast for all ages. As the park transforms into a winter paradise, park goers can take part in ice skating, live shows, rides, holiday characters and more. Holiday attractions include Candy Cane Lane, Charlie Brown’s Christmas Spectacular, Classic Christmas Café, Coney Elf Village, Holiday Games, Holiday Sing-Along and Jack Frost’s Igloo Village, to name a few. You won’t want to miss out on this family fun! Daily tickets cost $25.99; buy tickets online and save up to $13.
Cincinnati Zoo Festival of Lights
The Cincinnati Zoo is holding its 36th annual Festival of Lights, with three million LED lights and animal lanterns to welcome guests throughout the park. Attractions include a ride on the BB&T Toyland Express, the Wild Lights show on Swan Lake, Madcap black-light puppet show, yummy holiday treats and the chance to visit the zoo’s animals. Prices vary from $15-17 on weekdays if you buy online and weekend prices can reach $19.
