On Saturday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Dayton Dragons Professional Baseball Association will be holding tryouts to sing the national anthem at one of their home games. Tryouts will be held in the first floor of the Dayton Mall.
The winner of the grand prize, or the best tryout, will get to sing the national anthem on opening day, April 4.
Performances will be ranked from one to three, based on vocals, creativity, stage presence and appearance. One is the highest and three is the lowest.
Although all 240 tryout slots have already been filled, there is still a chance for others to audition. Those still hoping to audition can show up at the mall and register on the standby list. They will be given a number, and in the event that a registered tryout slot becomes available, a number will be called.
Standby tryouts are on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed.
“Stand-by is a first-come, first-served line. The earlier you sign up, the better,” according to the Dayton Dragons National Anthem Tryouts webpage.
Heater and Gem will make appearances and the Green Team will be there all day to make balloon animals.
The auditions are presented by the Dayton Daily News.
