The Raiders defeated Western Kentucky University (WKU) in a close match on Tuesday night 76-74.
C Loudon Love (11) suffered a right elbow injury earlier in the season during a game against La Salle, and it is expected to keep him off of the court for four-to-six weeks. After playing for seven minutes, he was fouled and fell.
With Love being a frontrunner for the basketball team and an All-Horizon First Team player, the team lost an experienced player to an injury.
Despite Love being MIA, WSU has continued to turn up the heat, bringing in win after win.
The following game just a day later against the Miami University RedHawks put the Raiders to the test as they adjusted their lineup to leave out the usual starter.
F Grant Basile (21), G Jaylon Hall (0) and F Bill Wampler(1) all finished with double-digit points and led the team to a win with a final score of 71-66.
The Raiders continued their powerful run Tuesday night against WKU.
Taking Love’s place in the lineup, Basile, a freshman, was given a chance to prove his skills. In a competitive match, Basile scored 12 points and with under a minute left, maneuvered one of the most important defensive plays of the night.
G Cole Gentry (31) and Wampler were also leaders on the court finishing with 17 points for Gentry and a game-high of 22 points for Wampler.
The WKU Hilltoppers started off the night with an early lead giving the Raiders a run for their money, but after a thrilling game, WSU came out on top.
