Wright State University’s (WSU) Dayton and Lake campuses will move all classes and operations remotely to the end of the week starting today at 4 p.m. for Lake campus and tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Dayton campus due to a winter weather warning.
Classes moved online
Both the Dayton and Lake campuses decided to move all classes and operations remotely in anticipation of the upcoming winter storm.
According to campus-wide alerts, the Lake campus will close and move to a remote format starting on Feb. 2 at 4 p.m., while the Dayton campus will close and move remotely beginning on Thursday, Feb. 3, at 8 a.m.
This change will extend through Friday; both campuses will open and resume in-person instruction on Feb. 7.
Students are instructed to reach out to their professors for remote instruction details, and essential workers are instructed to move remotely for these days.
“Remote, online and flexible delivery classes will take place without change as scheduled,” the alert states. “Students should check with their professors to how in-person class schedules are impacted.”
Dining services
According to the Wright State Hospitality Services, dining services will follow weekend operations for Thursday and Friday.
The Union Market will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and RaiderMart will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Campus Housing
Residence Life and Housing, in email communication, urged residents to exercise extreme caution and only leave residences if absolutely necessary.
The department also urged residents to make sure their heat is on and working and notify maintenance of any issues.
Weather Forecast
The National Weather Service has upgraded Greene County from a winter storm watch to a winter storm warning.
Four to eight inches of snow along with ice, below zero temperatures and winds up to 35 mph, are expected for the Dayton area.
According to the service, Mercer County, the county in which the Lake campus resides, is expected to get seven to twelve inches of snow along with light ice and wind.
