The Gem City Catfé is a popular Dayton hotspot, frequently visited by loyal Wright State University students.

The Café is located at 1513 E 5th St in St. Anne's Hill Historic District, just east of the Oregon District, and is open Sunday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Who are they?

According to their website, the Catfé is run by Gem City Kitties which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit created to partner with Gem City vet and Gem City Catfé.

“Together, both organizations work to improve the lives of cats in Dayton. We collaborate with local rescues and shelters to help find homes for cats in need,” according to the website.

Cat lounge

The Catfé is home to a cat lounge, a coffee bar and an artworks gallery for artists of Dayton. The cat lounge is open for entry for up to 12 people to maintain a safe environment for the cats.

According to their website, the cat lounge entry is $10 for non-members and $5 for members. Membership is only $25 for one year per household. Members may apply their discounted entry rate of $5 to anyone visiting with them.

The cats are included in an adoption program, except for two residential cats, Mr. Baby and Meowrville Wright.

The adoption program application can be found on their website at www.gemcitycatfe.com/cats.
