“Weird Al” Yankovic will be performing “The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour” at the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center on Aug. 23.
Yankovic is an American singer, actor and comedian. Yankovic will be appearing with special guest and fellow comedian Emo Philips.
Tickets start at $49 and can be purchased on the Dayton Live website.
National
On Friday, Aug. 19, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics published its state unemployment and employment summary.
The Bureau reported lower unemployment rates in 14 states and higher unemployment rates in three states with 33 states having consistent unemployment rates for the month of July.
According to the report, Minnesota currently has the lowest state unemployment rate of 1.85% followed by Nebraska, New Hampshire and Utah at 2%. The District of Columbia has one of the highest unemployment rates at 5.25%, higher than the national average of 3.5%.
In addition to monthly employment rates for states, the report also explored nonfarm payroll employment, or the number of workers who do not work on farms or other specialty professions.
The nonfarm payroll employment rate increased in 43 states and the DC and remained unchanged in seven states over the past year.
Galactic
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has selected four mission proposals to study exploding stars, clusters of galaxies and nearby stars.
According to an Aug. 18 press release, these missions are part of the organization’s explorer program study, the oldest continuous NASA program.
As part of NASA’s initiative to send astronauts back to the moon, the administration has identified 13 possible landing locations for Artemis III, according to an Aug. 19 press release.
NASA plans to land the first woman and person of color on the moon as part of the Artemis program. The mission’s target launch dates have yet to be announced.
