The Wright State University Miracle Makers will host one of its largest events of the semester this Tuesday.

The event

On Tuesday, Nov. 29, the WSU Miracle Makers will host the annual Grilled Cheese Hotline. The event will last from 5:30 p.m. until midnight. The hotline, which is sponsored by Frisch’s Big Boy, is one of the most anticipated events of the year.

“It is one of the biggest fundraisers we do throughout the year. It is a great time for us to bond as an organization and connect with the community,” Executive Director Amber Barga mentioned.

Students can purchase a grilled cheese sandwich for $2 or tomato soup for $1. Members within the organization will deliver to anywhere on campus or to apartments on Zink Road for an additional $2 charge. Otherwise, students can pick up orders in the Forest Lane Community Center.

Background

Miracle Makers is a student-run philanthropic organization that hosts events and raises funds and awareness for the Dayton Children's Hospital, according to the organization’s Engage page. The two biggest events of the year include Raiderthon and the Grilled Cheese Hotline event.

Roselynn Duncan is a first year member in Miracle Makers. After searching for many ways to get involved on campus, Duncan realized that Miracle Makers was the best fit and is excited to work the Grilled Cheese Hotline event for the first time.

“I wanted to join an organization that could impact others. I want to work in the medical field and thought it would benefit me to work for kids at Dayton Children’s,” Duncan said.

The cause

All proceeds from the Grilled Cheese Hotline will go to Dayton Children’s Hospital and will be applied to the “Greatest Need” fund, where the hospital will provide funds for families with children in the hospital who may need financial help. This includes food and bills.

Students can call to order at 937-423-7229 or online by filling out a Google Doc form prior to or during the event. To learn more about the event or other upcoming events, follow Miracle Makers on social media @wsu_mm.
