According to Billboard Music Awards, the top artist of 2022 was Drake. Billboard also nominated Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd for top artist.
Drake also won top male artist, top rap artist, top rap male artist and top rap album. Olivia Rodrigo won the most awards, including top female artist, top new artist, top streaming songs, top radio songs, top Billboard global and top Billboard 200 album.
According to Apple Music, the most globally streamed song of 2022 was “STAY” by Justin Bieber and Kid Laroi. The second was “As It Was” by Harry Styles. Others that made it to the top of the list were “WAIT FOR U” by Future feat. Drake and Tems, “Super Gremlin” by Kodak Black, “Easy on Me” by Adele, “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals, “First Class” by Jack Harlow and more.
The top award-winning albums of the year, according to Billboard, include Olivia Rodrigo’s “SOUR,” Doja Cat’s “Planet Her,” Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy,” Taylor Swift’s “Red (Taylor’s Version),” Twenty One Pilots’ “Scaled and Icy,” KAROL G’s “KG0516,” ILLENIUM’s “Fallen Embers” and Ye’s “Donda.”
“Though released in the final quarter of 2022, readers named Taylor Swift‘s Midnights as the No. 1 favorite album of the year,” the official Billboard website reads.
According to the chart, Swift's album sold 1 million copies in one week.
“Harry’s House”by Harry Styles comes in at number two, according to Billboard’s readers. This album tied with Swift’s album “Midnights,” with Bad Bunny’s album “Un Verano Sin Ti” coming in at number three.
“My favorite album of 2022 is Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar,” Maria Washler, a junior criminal justice major at WSU, said.
