According to the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (EMA) website on March 8, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tested water samples from creeks and rivers stemming from the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
“I’m testifying at today’s @EPWCmte hearing to hold Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw accountable for the damage his company has done to Ohio. They’ve put profits over people, shareholders over safety, & Ohioans have been left to pay the price,” Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown said via twitter.

On March 3rd White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre discussed a new Tennessee law banning drag performances in public venues.
“What sense does that make to go after drag shows? How is that going to help people’s lives who are thinking about the economy, who are thinking about making sure their kids are going — are going to be safe when they go to school or their communities are safe?” Jean-Pierre said.

Hamburg Shooting
The U.S. Department of State issued a Press Release regarding a shooting in Hamburg, Germany resulting in several fatalities and injuries.
“No one should have to fear for their safety while attending a place of worship. Such acts of violence have no place in any society. We stand in solidarity with the people of Germany and pledge our support to assist as needed,” Ned Price, department spokesperson said in the release.
Iran and Saudi Arabia restore relations
On March 10, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to restore relations seven years after cutting all diplomatic ties with one another.
According to the United State Institute of Peace, “The move marked a significant de-escalation in tensions.”
Galactic
NASA’s SpaceX Crew-5 returned back to Earth from the International Space Station on March 11 after a six-month science mission.
Those on Crew-5 are, NASA astronauts Josh Cassada and Nicole Mann, JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Koichi Wakata, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Anna Kikina, according to the NASA press release.
