Wright State University’s College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Circle collaborated with multiple organizations across campus to hold the circle's final event of the academic year; Bob(a) Ross Sip and Paint.
The Event
The Bob(a) Ross Paint ‘n Sip is an annual event the Dean’s Circle hosted since 2020, according to Hannah Davidson, the Secretary at the Asian Student Association. The event took place March 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in The Landing and the lounge in the Honors dorm.
The Dean’s Circle provided milk tea or fruit-juice boba as well as pizza for all in attendance. Lindsey Shaffer, the co-organizer of the event and member of UAB, expressed the accommodations and preparations of the Paint ‘n Sip such as providing two types of boba to accommodate food allergies.
“People are going to be able to come along and paint along with a Bob Ross paint video as well as enjoy some boba tea and have a good time,” Gabby Ramos, a co-organizer of the event, said.
The event originally organized by the Dean’s Circle, also featured hosts from RCA, SGA, UAB, ASA and H2O Church to come together and provide the opportunity for students, according to Ramos.
“Some people are painting whatever they want, sometimes painting supplies are really expensive so when it is given to you, students seem to be enjoying the new experience,” Shaffer said.
Ramos also expressed the positivity of the popularity of the event as many organizations across campus have been struggling to have students attend.
“We had a cap of 50 people and after 10 minutes of the advertisement going live on social media, we already had 30 sign ups,” Ramos said.
This year the event was relocated to Honors dorm due to restrictions with catering, in the words of Davidson.
“Last year it was in one big classroom, this year because we had food we had to host off campus. Furthermore we weren’t able to do boba through Chartwells, which is our caterer,” Davidson said.
Next year for Dean’s Circle
Davidson voiced several events and opportunities already planned for students in the fall.
“Next year we have a meet and greet with the dean in the fall, we also have the winter social which is a party for students and professors to help build connections between them and finally a tie dye t-shirt event,” Davidson said.
