According to a university-wide email from the Wright State Office of Communications on July 21, the Department of Public Safety will move to 108 Allyn Hall on July 24, 2023. Previously, these offices were located at 118 Campus Services Building near the Child Development Center on University Boulevard.
“This move will improve services to Wright State students and employees,” the email reads.
Furthermore, the Public Safety Service Center and the Facilities Customer Care Center have merged in 060 Allyn Hall.

President Biden plans military nominations
On July 21, United States President Joe Biden announced intent to nominate multiple military positions, including Chief of Naval Operations, Commander of Indo-Pacific Command and Commander of Pacific Fleet.
The nominee for the Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Lisa Franchetti, would be the first woman to serve in the position and on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“Each are highly decorated naval officers with extensive operational experience. They will help ensure that the U.S. Military, and in particular the U.S. Navy, remain the most powerful and capable forces in the world at this critical moment,” the press release reads.
Tony Bennett passes away at 96
American saloon singer and stylist Tony Bennett died at 96 on July 21, according to an Associated Press release. The singer had been battling Alzheimer’s disease since 2016. During his career, Bennett won 19 Grammy Awards and two Emmys, among other accolades and awards.
“Tony Bennett was an iconic songwriter and entertainer who charmed generations of fans,” former President Barack Obama wrote in a tweet; Bennett had performed at Obama’s inauguration.

On July 19, Russia used drones and missiles to attack grain and oil terminals in southern Ukraine while injuring 12 people, according to an Associated Press release. In a July 19 release, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi said that the Russian attack destroyed 60,000 tons of grain in the Chornomorsk port.
“If we cannot export food, the population of the poorest countries will be on the edge of survival. Moreover, not only [the] Ukrainian economy will suffer, but the economy of the entire world,” Solskyi said.
According to Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine data from the State Custom Services of Ukraine, the exports of Ukrainian cereals and legumes for the 2022/2023 market year totalled to 41,595 thousand tons.
