Local

On Friday, July 7, the Wright State Office of Communications released a consumer notice about tap water results of the public water system, indicating that six of the seven tested samples had less than 15.5 parts per billion, the federal action level. According to the official email, the seventh test from the Child Development Center pink room sink measured 34 parts per billion.

National

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons announced that on Friday, July 7, the last chemical munition of the United States stockpile was irreversibly destroyed. This action is in accordance with the Chemical Weapons Convention, an organization that prohibits the use, acquisition or creation of weapons of mass destruction. 

“Today—as we mark this significant milestone—we must also renew our commitment to forging a future free from chemical weapons,” United State President Joe Biden said in a statement on Friday. “And together with our partners, we will not stop until we can finally and forever rid the world of this scourge.”

Global

According to an Associated Press release, the Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, resigned on Saturday, July 8, after the Dutch government collapsed; the government was unable to reach a deal about immigration restriction, causing the collapse. The Netherlands is now established for a general election this year, according to the release.
