Weapon in The Hangar

On Friday, Sept. 15, Wright State Police responded to reports of a weapon in The Hangar in Allyn Hall at Wright State’s Dayton campus. According to a university-wide communication, there was no active threat. The student who carried the unloaded training rifle was meeting with police officers as of 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 15 with no further update. 

Air Force Marathon

On Saturday, Sept. 16, runners embarked on the annual Air Force Marathon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base with over 8,500 athletes from all 50 states, according to the marathon’s official website. National

The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recommended an updated COVID-19 vaccine for people 6 months old and older, according to a White House press release.

“Today’s announcement also means that we now have immunizations for all three major seasonal respiratory viruses—COVID-19, flu and RSV,” the release reads. 

Global

Mediterranean storm Daniel caused deadly flooding in Derna, Libya, killing 5,100 people as of Sept. 13, according to an Associated Press release. The collapse of two dams above the city exacerbated the flooding. 

In a statement from United States President Joe Biden, he offered condolences to those who were impacted by the flood, explaining that his administration has sent relief and support from the U.S. 

“We join the Libyan people in grieving the loss of too many lives cut short and send our hope to all those missing loved ones,” the statement reads.
