On Thursday, Sept. 21, Wright State University President Dr. Sue Edwards announced the resignation of Dean of Students Dr. Chris Taylor, who will continue his service until Oct. 20.
“As you see Dean Taylor around campus, please join me in thanking him for his dedicated service to Wright State University,” Edwards said in a university-wide communication.

UAW strike
As of Sept. 22, the United Auto Workers Stand Up Strike—including the unionized automakers Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Stellantis—expanded to 38 parts-distribution centers, according to an Associated Press release.
“Everywhere, UAW members and the working class are ready to stand up against corporate greed and stand up for our communities,” UAW President Shawn Fain said in an X livestream.

Usher to play Super Bowl Halftime Show
On Sunday, Sept. 24, the National Football League, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced that 8-time Grammy winning R&B singer Usher will play the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show on Feb. 11, 2024.
“Usher is an icon whose music has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape throughout his career. We couldn't be more excited to have him headline this year's Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show," Seth Dudowsky, NFL head of music, said in an NFL announcement.

On Thursday, Sept. 21, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with United States President Joe Biden about the ongoing Ukrainian counter-offensive against Russia. In a readout from the White House, Biden committed to both short- and long-term support for Ukraine.
According to a U.S. Department of Defense announcement, the security assistance package from the U.S. to Ukraine totals to $325 million.
“The package includes additional air defense equipment, artillery rounds, antitank weapons and other equipment to meet Ukraine's urgent needs on the battlefield to counter Russia's ongoing war of aggression,” the announcement reads.
