Fire in College Park Extinguished with Minimal Damage

UPDATE AT 1:45 P.M.

Power has been restored in College Park and students can now re-enter the building.


UPDATE AT 1:40 P.M.

The power will be out at College Park until about 4:30 p.m. Residents are able to return to the building to acquire necessary belongings and will be allowed to re-enter permanently after 4:30 p.m.

There is water damage in the 1A, 2A and 3A apartments of College Park; these residents are being relocated to other on-campus housing. Residents in 1A and 2A should be able to return to their units after tomorrow, with residents in 3A being placed in other accommodations until further notice.


According to Seth Bauguess, director of communications at Wright State University, there was a grease fire that set off the sprinklers in apartment 3A at College Park early this afternoon. The damage was on and around the stove in the unit, with power temporarily cut to the building while crews clean.
