Baseball player and local sports broadcaster Don Brown passed away at 63, according to the Westbrock Funeral Home obituary for Brown. The Dayton-native graduated from Wright State University in 1983 and played baseball for the school.

Hollywood writers reach tentative agreement, strike ends

On Tuesday, Sept. 26, the Hollywood Writers Guild of America strike ended after five months of the stoppage in production, according to an Associated Press release. Dianne Feinstein dead at 90

On Thursday, Sept. 28, Dianne Feinstein, American politician who served as a democratic senator in California for over 30 years, passed away at the age of 90.

“Senator Dianne Feinstein was one of the greatest public servants that California and our nation has ever known,” United States Vice President Kamala Harris said in a statement.

Iraqi wedding fire kills 100

On Tuesday, Sept. 26, a wedding fire in Hamdaniya, Iraq killed over 100 people and injured 100 more in the Haitham Royal Wedding Hall, according to an Associated Press release. 

“The tragedy Tuesday night was the latest to hit Iraq’s Christian minority, which has dwindled to a fraction of its former size over the past decade in the face of militant attacks,” the release reads. 

Bomb kills 52, injures 70 in Pakistan

On Friday, Sept. 29, a suspected suicide bomber killed 52 people and injured 70 more in a celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday in Pakistan, according to an Associated Press release.
