These past few weeks have been filled with discussion of Oscar-nominated films, including the lesser-known but still as important animated films that were also nominated. Based on your zodiac sign, which of these films should you watch first?
Aries: “Robot Dreams”
The heartbreaking tale of friendship and loss is something an Aries will love. “Robot Dreams” follows the friendship between the lonely Dog and Robot and what happens in each of their individual lives.
Taurus: “Past Lives”
Lovers of love—the perfect description for a Taurus—will find “Past Lives” an incredible film to watch. The film focuses on the heartbreaking story between two people as they fall in love at a young age and become separated and what their relationship could have been.
Gemini: “Nimona”
Gemini’s are stereotypically known as two-faced or having multiple sides to their personalities. “Nimona” fits this theme, with its main character being a shapeshifter, while also exploring a science-fantasy world. The film itself is full of themes of identity, especially queer identity, and is an excellent watch for any Gemini and their friends!
Cancer: “Barbie”
For the compassionate and stereotypical feminine sign, “Barbie” is the perfect film to represent a Cancer. From the breathtaking performances of actresses, such as Margot Robbie and America Ferrera, as well as the important topics that are even more important in our time, “Barbie” is the ideal movie for a Cancer to sit down and watch.
Leo: “Killers of the Flower Moon”
The dramatic Leos will love “Killers of the Flower Moon,” a historical drama piece that follows a series of murders done to gain power over an oil industry developed in the Osage tribe.
Virgo: “Maestro”
The romantic Virgos will enjoy “Maestro,” a film focused on the relationship between American composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre. The focus on this relationship is something all Virgos will love to see.
Libra: “Anatomy of a Fall”
Thanks to the legal aspect of the Libra sign, “Anatomy of a Fall” is a must-watch for every Libra. It focuses on the story of a widow who must defend herself from homicide charges after the unexpected death of her husband.
Scorpio: “The Zone of Interest”
A two-sided tale telling the lives of Nazi power living an ideal life while living next to the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp is the perfect film for a Scorpio. This zodiac sign will appreciate the dark concept the film has.
Sagittarius: “American Fiction”
A film full of irony, hypocrisy and outlandish madness is perfect for the intense and curious Sagittarius. “American Fiction” tells the tale of an upset author who is tired of the industries profiting off Black stereotypes to the point where he makes his own book under a pen name using those same stereotypes.
Capricorn: “The Boy and the Heron”
The unique story of growing up and maturing is a film that the untamed spirit of a Capricorn would be all over. Hayao Miyazaki’s dedication to this film is something to be respected, alongside the widely-adored animation style that follows every Studio Ghibli film.
Aquarius: “Oppenheimer”
“Oppenheimer,” which follows the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer from his personal life to the moral dilemma he experiences after helping develop the atomic bomb, is the perfect film for Aquarius. An Aquarius is scientific, logic-focused and innovative, which is the perfect type of person to enjoy the 3-hour film.
Pisces: “Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse”
The dreamy and imaginative Pisces will love a film about traversing across different universes. “Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse,” a film many have been expecting for years, is the sequel to the beloved “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.” A Pisces will appreciate the fantastic artistic style and plot.
