Bob Schul, Olympian and former WSU coach, dies at 86
Bob Schul, the only American distance runner to win gold in the 5,000 meters in the Olympics, has died, according to the Associated Press. He was 86 years-old.
Schul, who died on Sunday, June 16, at a nursing home in Middletown, Ohio, coached cross country and track and field at Wright State from the 1970s through the early 2000s.

California boy found safe after 22 hours alone in Sierra National Forest
On Friday, June 21, a 4 year old boy from California who wandered away from his family was found safe after being alone in the Sierra National Forest for 22 hours, according to the Associated Press.
The boy was discovered in good condition “nestled under a tree” near a lake about a quarter mile (.4 km) from the Rancheria Campground where his family was.

Water emergency in Italy halts tourist arrivals to Capri Island
On Saturday, June 22, the mayor of Capri ordered a halt of tourist arrivals after a failure in the water system left some areas without any water, according to the Associated Press.
“The health and hygiene situation is explosive, we have taken our countermeasures and activated the crisis unit and issued a restrictive order,” Mayor Paolo Falco said.
Only local reservoirs supply the network, which in the absence of supplies from the mainland risks being run out.
Death toll at Hajj pilgrimage rises to 1,300
On Sunday, June 23, Saudi authorities announced more than 1,300 people died during this year’s Hajj this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia as temperatures were at extreme highs, according to the Associated Press.
Saudi Health Minister Fahd bin Abdurrahman Al-Jalajel said that 83% of the 1,301 fatalities were unauthorized pilgrims who walked long distances in soaring temperatures to perform the Hajj rituals in and around the holy city of Mecca.
