Marc DeWitt named assistant director of the Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center
On Wednesday, June 26, Marc DeWitt accepted the assistant director position of the Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center, according to a campus-wide communication from Vice President for Inclusive Excellence Dr. Matthew Chaney.
“DeWitt brings to the Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center a passion for fostering a community of care for students, building a sense of belonging, and creating innovative ways to mentor and create access and pathways to higher education for students from underrepresented backgrounds.” Chaney writes.

Driver charged with DUI after crashing into a nail salon, killing four
On Friday, June 28, a minivan slammed into a nail salon in Long Island, killing four people and injuring nine others, according to the Associated Press. The suspected driver, Steven Schwally, was arrested and accused of driving while intoxicated.
Three women and a man were pronounced dead at the scene and eight females and one man were transported to various local hospitals.

Attacker wounds a Serbian police officer at the Israeli Embassy
On Saturday, June 29, an attacker with a crossbow wounded a Serbian police officer, who was guarding the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade, according to the Associated Press. The officer fatally shot the attacker.
Both Serbian and Israeli officials said initial indications pointed to terrorism as a motive. The officer underwent surgery, hospital officials said he was stable after surgery.
