Summer is coming to a close which means it’s time to return to campus. Whether it’s your first or fourth year, here is what you need to know about Operation Move-In.
This year, Operation Move-In will take place on August 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents can sign up for a move-in time slot through Wings Express.
Before
Before moving in, students need to register for fall classes, sign up for a timeslot, update their emergency contact information and review dining plans. All of these can be done on Wings Express.
Residents should contact their roommates and communicate what items each roommate will bring.
During
During move-in, residents can anticipate seeing Dr. Edwards and Rowdy out and about. The pep band will perform on August 22 and the cheer and dance teams will be around spreading spirit.
The Residential Community Association (RCA) will be handing out free popsicles and there will be tables with free water and giveaways. A handful of lucky residents will even win some residence hall room essentials as prizes.
On the first day of move-in, Residence Life and housing will be raffling a Fire Tablet to a resident who is following them on Instagram.
And After
Residents will have floor meetings with their Resident Assistants (RAs) on Thursday, August 22 and Sunday, August 25. Residents should check with their RAs for time and location.
There will be many fun and free events happening in the halls after move-in. Residents can find all campus events on engage.
Families and loved ones can send care packages to their resident, mailing addresses can be found on Wright State’s Website.
Tips, Tricks and a Packing List
Residence Life and Housing recommends that students bring their own dolly or cart as those can be limited, their Wright1 card and dress comfortably.
Having family help with move-in can be a special moment, however, limiting the number of people and cars can help with traffic and ease the move in process.
Once you arrive in your room, assess the area for maintenance issues and any damages in the room. Maintenance tents will be set up in the Woods and in the Honors dorm for students to get assistance.
Students still looking for dorm room essentials and linens, can check out Dormify. Residents should also consider getting renter’s insurance and should check out Grad Guard.
Residents can find a packing list, approved appliance list, and prohibited items list here.
