Halloween Attractions | Graphic by Rose Taylor | The Wright State Guardian
Halloween is a great time of the year with many unique traditions. A one-time honored tradition is going to haunted attractions, where ghouls and goblins lurk in the dark waiting to give you a scare. This is The Guardian’s guide to haunted houses in the Buckeye state.
Terror Maze
The closest haunt to us is Terror Maze in Springfield. They opened Sept. 13th and will remain open until Oct. 26. They advertise themselves as a set of trails in the woods tucked between Clifton and Springfield.
It is their 30th season open and they pride themselves on being family run and operated.
You can tell that this is a smaller haunt, but it has character. The people who act in this maze are really good. No characters specifically, but they are very well acted.
Tickets start at $20 and they are open from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Tickets can be bought on their website.
Dayton Scream Park
Dayton Scream Park opened on Sept. 6 and is the second closest haunt to Wright State University. They boast about being the largest haunted compound in Ohio. They will be open until the end of October.
This is an intense one. They have a mix of intellectual properties and original characters, leading to a high intensity experience from start to finish.
Dayton Scream Park is open every Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $25. Information can be found on their Facebook page.
Hell’s Dungeon
The newest haunt on the list is Hell’s Dungeon, which is the third closest location to WSU. It is a small indoor haunt themed to the underworld. They are open until the end of October.
This one is a newer one, so they are still working some kinks out. But they are an amazing group of actors.
Hell’s Dungeon is open every Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to Midnight.
Tickets can be bought at the door or on their website. Tickets start at $26.
Land Of Illusion Haunted Scream Park
Land of Illusion is located in Middletown, Ohio. It is a little farther from WSU, but this haunt is a larger one with six different mazes and attractions.
LOI is a fun experience, while it is one of the pricier options ($55 general to all houses, $25 for a singular house), it offers a lot to do. Depending on the night, there is a chance you may not get through everything.
You can buy tickets and learn more information on their website.
They are open throughout September and October from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
