Skyline & Graters Collaboration Bonfire | Krogers
The Cincinnati native business collaboration promises an ice cream with a spicy crunch soon to be hitting local Krogers. Students have differing opinions on what this savory ice cream will really taste like.
Background
The rumor mill surrounding this unconventional pairing began with an eagle-eyed internet sleuth discovering the conceptual collab on Kroger’s website.
The pint is decorated with Skyline’s iconic checkerboard pattern and famous chili. Its description reads:
“A daring fusion of flavors in a Cincy chili-flavored ice cream: the creamy ice cream is infused with warm chili spices. Swirled throughout are crunchy oyster crackers and shreds of cheese that provide a tangy contrast to the sweet treat. This unconventional union offers a bold, adventurous taste experience that combines zesty ice cream with crunchy elements in every bite."
Skyline and Grater's representative confirmed the collaboration, but are still in the early phases of making the unique taste a reality.
In a tweet on X on Oct. 15, J.D. Vance promised that “President Trump and I will stop this,” in response to a tweet about this adventurous swirl.
But what do students think? Would they try such a combination?
Student Opinion
Opinions among Wright State University are divided. The topic came up during a pre-class discussion, and students were quick to input their opinions on the matter.
Student Deanna Claybaugh automatically rejected trying such a combination, considering the collaboration extremely random.
“I don't like chili and I especially don't like Skyline chili. That's not real chili anyway, then Skyline chili ice cream just sounds disgusting. It just doesn't sound appetizing, even just the name,” Claybaugh said.
Other students were a bit more willing to try the odd ice cream collaboration. Kayla Woten, an English major, does not anticipate liking the pint, but would at least try it out.
“I would try it, just because I will try everything even once,” Woten said.
Erin Flanagan, an English professor at WSU, shared her thoughts as well.
“I would try anything!” Flanagan said.
While the opinions are very diverse, many have a negative opinion on the idea of this interesting new ice cream flavor. Those interested in trying it should keep an eye out for the near future, as it may be hitting the shelves in 2025.
