Last season the women’s basketball team ended with a record of 18-15 overall and 11-9 conference record.
The Raiders finished their season with a 66-56 win against Detroit Mercy. This win helped them go into the Horizon league championship, where they moved onto the quarterfinals and finished it with a win against Milwaukee.
Continuing into the Semifinals, the raiders took to the court against Cleveland State, however they ended up losing to the Vikings, ending their season.
Preparing for the upcoming season
The Women's Basketball team is currently preparing and working hard for their first game against University of Wisconsin.
Head Coach Kari Hoffman has been with the Wright State Women's Basketball team since May of 2021. During Hoffman's second year with Wright State, she guided the Raiders to a four-win improvement and a Horizon League Championship quarterfinal appearance.
“We’ve had a really good preseason, full of growth and improvement,” Hoffman stated.
As the raiders continue with preparing for the upcoming season, they will be starting their season with a new slate with non-conference games before working up towards their Horizon league game.
All season the team has been practicing against one another, but are prepared to start going against other teams.
“Our ability to transition and set the pace of the game needs to be what we keep leaning into,” Hoffman said.
Lauren Scott is a starting guard for the women's WSU Basketball team, she is a junior from Columbus who has played basketball throughout her life and continues to do so in college.
She has made career changing accomplishments throughout her time at Wright State such as scoring a career-high 17 points, knocking down 39 shots from beyond the arc and helping the team secure a win against Mount Vernon Nazarene last season.
“Having prepared all summer and fall, we are ready to put our skills on display against another team and are looking forward to the chance to compete,” Scott said.
With all the hard work and dedication for the upcoming season the Wright State Raiders are hoping to return to the Horizon League championship at the end of the season and move further than they have in the past.
