Coming off of a win against Toledo (22-21) the Raiders hosted Milwaukee in their second to last home game of the season.
The Raiders have been practicing at least four times a week and working together both offensively and defensively to come out on top.
The Game
In the first quarter, the Raiders pushed hard against Milwaukee. They had a few successful tackles and broke through the defense, allowing Tamia Smith to score on a 3 yard run.
Smith is the first female within the league to have scored a touchdown since 1998.
Going into the second quarter the football team was starting with a 15-0 lead against Milwaukee. Milwaukee kept trying to push through the Raiders defensive line but was unsuccessful.
Throughout the second quarter the Raiders continued to work hard and make great passes to ensure downs and points. With only three minutes left in the second quarter, Ryan Crampton pushed through the defensive line and secured a touchdown for the Raiders.
“My lineman helped block Milwaukee, which helped me do my own thing and score,” stated Crampton.
Leading into the third quarter the Raiders were going strong, continuously working and racking points up on the board.
Jackson Smith is a cornerback and has played for the club football team throughout his time at WSU. He has found much success in his football career. Smith recorded 7 total tackles, enforcing 2 enforced fumbles, and put up 6 points for the Raiders through an interception.
Throughout the game, Smith was holding the defensive line together with his teammates as well keeping the energy up for everyone to hear.
“Just being a leader, it starts at practice, the guys look up to me and they give me that urge to keep going, as well as my passion,” Smith said.
The Raiders will finish their season on Sunday, Nov 10 at Mulhollan Field.
