WSU’s Club Softball Finishes Their Fall Season

Raider up for spring sports season. Pexel

On Saturday, Nov. 2 Wright State’s Club Fastpitch Softball team hosted Eastern Kentucky University for their last game of the season.

Overall season

Since its start at Wright State University in 2017, the Club Softball team has steadily grown over the years. This fall season, the Raiders finished with a 1-5 record.

They have gained much interest for the team and just this semester they have welcomed six new players. The team is constantly growing and improving on multiple skills throughout their season.

Throughout the fall season the team has been practicing once a week, as well as playing double-headers on Saturday or Sunday. Their fall season consisted of six double headers both home and away.

Mia Robbins is the team captain of the club softball team and has been on the team for four years now and in leadership for three of those years. Since being on the team she has experienced exciting practices, and fun bonding times with her team.

“Just like everyone, we like to win but we also like to have a good time,” Robbins stated.

Isabella Anderson is a marketing major at WSU, and has been welcomed by her team since her first practice.

“This is my second year on the team and I’ve never been on a team so positive and supporting,” Anderson said.

Double-header against EKU

Ending the raiders season, they hosted Eastern Kentucky University for a double-header. Prior to this game, the team welcomed Ohio Northern on Oct. 26, coming out with a win.

Going into the game, the raiders were feeling confident and ready to take on their next component.

The game started at a fast pace, but the raiders were having a hard time keeping up. While the team did manage to make a bit of a comeback, the game ultimately did not end in their favor.

President of the team, Sarah Holy, commented on the loss.

“I’d say as a team we played to the best of our abilities,” Holt said.

Although the raiders ended the season with a loss, they continue to keep a positive attitude, practice and improve on new skills each week.

Wright State’s Club Softball will continue their season in spring 2025
