Most anticipated Movies of 2025

The cinematic slate for 2025 is shaping up to be a blockbuster-filled year, with major franchises, original stories, and long-awaited sequels on the horizon. Here's a look at some of the most anticipated movies. 

Spring (January-March) 

“September 5” stars Peter Sarsgaard and John Magaro in a recounting of the 1972 Munich Olympic hostage crisis. The film blends drama with actual footage making it a hit at the Venice film festival,  according to Rotten Tomatoes. The film will hit theaters on Jan. 17. 

“Snow White” featuring Rachel Zegler, is Disney's next live action remake. With a script co-written by Gerta Gerwig, the film is anticipated to be a hit with movie-goers. 

Summer (April-July)

“How to Train Your Dragon” is a live-action remake,  offering a new take on the beloved animated series based on Cressida Cowell's books. This marks a significant expansion of the franchise, which has already captivated audiences with its animated trilogy and spinoffs, according to Rotten Tomatoes

“A Minecraft Movie”,  starring Jack Black and Jennifer Coolidge this classic video game turned climatic film is set to release in April.  While the plot of the movie is unclear, some movie-goers think the film will be similar to “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” which was released in 2023 and also stars Jack Black. 

Fall (August-October)

“Wicked: Part Two”, slated for release in November, the film follows Act 2 of the beloved broadway musical. The film was shot at the same time as the first, so fans can expect all the cast members to be in the second. 

"Michael"  is a biopic exploring the life of Michael Jackson, played by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, and is expected to delve into both the highlights and controversies of the pop icon's career​.  Fans of movies and MJ can expect to see the movie in October. 

Winter (November-December)

“The Running Man” is an upcoming dystopian thriller based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. This is the second adaptation of the book, the first being released in 1987. Starring Glen Powell and Katy O Brian, the film is set to release in November, according to IMDB

"Avatar: Fire and Ash," slated for release in December, is the third installment in James Cameron's epic science-fiction franchise. Known for pushing the boundaries of visual effects and immersive storytelling, the "Avatar" series continues to expand its intricate world of Pandora.
