During the 2025 Grammys, Bianca Censori and Kanye West entered the venue in black clothing. This year was West’s first time at the Grammys in roughly a decade.
Before they walked the red carpet, Censori took off her coat to reveal a short, see-through dress that completely revealed her body. Media coverage has had to censor images and videos of her as a result of her nudity.
Shortly after, the two of them left the Grammys. While there were brief claims that the couple was kicked out of the venue, it has been confirmed that they left of their own accord and were not punished in any way, according to PEOPLE.
“Raj Kapoor, the Grammys executive producer, exclusively told PEOPLE about West's unexpected appearance with his wife Bianca Censori on the 2025 Grammys red carpet. PEOPLE was able to confirm [that] West was not kicked out. He was nominated and walked the red carpet, but then got in his car and left,” PEOPLE reads.
While her name had appeared in the media in the past for similar stunts, this most recent event has made many people learn of her name.
Who is Bianca Censori?
Censori, who is well-known for her marriage to West, was born in Melbourne, Australia. She has a bachelor’s and master’s in architecture from the University of Melbourne; soon after getting her master’s, she began working for Yeezy, West’s media and fashion company.
She is currently the Head of Architecture at Yeezy, and has been since 2023. She married West in a private ceremony in December of 2023– some debate sparked over this, as some believed it was an illegal or null marriage, but media publications and West himself refer to her as his wife.
Censori’s fashion choice has been what many would describe as risqué for years now, but her marriage to West has only upped her borderline indecent fashion sense. In 2023, Venice police accused both Censori and West of public indecency, and her clothes have become more see-through as time goes on.
Some of her fashion decisions in 2023 and 2024 have upset locals of other countries, and her Grammys stunt has shocked the world.
Public and student opinion
Arguments have popped up from both sides. Some have defended her fashion, claiming that it is her body and she can do what she wants, while others see it as public indecency. There have also been concerns that West may be coercing or manipulating her into this current fashion sense.
Makenzie Goddard, a social work major, was not a fan of Censori’s stunt.
“I just don’t know how she hasn’t gotten charges pressed against her for practically being nude in public. It must be because they’re rich celebrities,” Goddard said. “People were defending her choice online by saying how creative it was and that she’s worn stuff like this before. Personally, I think she should have charges pressed against her.”
Others, like Vogue writer Rachel Smith, discuss the accusations many have made towards Kanye’s behavior. She says that, as a woman, Censori should have this freedom of expression and take control of her own body. Smith also mentions that Censori may actually want the reactions she gets from her stunts.
“We can’t jump to a conclusion just because seeing her virtually in the nude doesn’t feel good. Because Bianca isn’t speaking up, because we’re bereft of any deeper motivations (or personality), the silence has us scrabbling for answers of our own. But maybe that’s exactly what Bianca wanted,” Smith said.
Overall, Censori’s decision to go fully nude at the 2025 Grammys has sparked plenty of debate over feminism and women’s choices, and these debates are expected to go on as she continues with her fashion choices.
