Breaking: Library Closed Due to Falling Incident

Dunbar Library on WSU’s Dayton Campus is closed indefinitely on Friday, Oct. 21, due to a falling incident around noon. 

Eyewitnesses have said that an unknown person fell from the fourth floor of the building onto the second floor. It is unclear if it was intentional or accidental. 

The status of the person is unknown. According to a campus-wide email, EMS transported the person to the hospital.

WSUPD labeled the incident as an active crime scene. It is unknown when the library will reopen. 

According to WSUPD, media will be briefed once more facts are known.

Update

A programmer analyst in Computing and Telecommunications Services (CaTS) passed away due to sustained injuries from the fall, according to Wright State President Sue Edwards in a campus-wide email. 

Edwards included WSU resources available through Counseling and Wellness Services and the Employee Assistance Program

The library will remain closed through the weekend and reopen on Monday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 a.m. Services are still available online.

“Alternative study spaces are available around the Dayton Campus, including in the Student Success Center,” Edwards wrote. “The computer lab in 014 Student Success Center will be open all weekend.”
