Athletic Director Bob Grant’s search for a new ringer for their women’s basketball team has come to an end, with Kari Hoffman stepping up to fill the position.

“We are thrilled that Kari and her family are joining our Raider Family,” Grant said. “During this process, it became clear that Kari has the passion and the priorities that we value in our culture.”

Hoffman will be replacing Katrina Merriweather, who left the position in March for the University of Memphis

Merriweather left the position with big shoes to fill, averaging a 70% win rate overall and almost an 80% winrate in league play. She also gave the Raiders their first NCAA tournament win, upsetting 4th seed Arkansas in the first round.

But, if anyone is able to fill those shoes, Hoffman seems to be up to the job. Hoffman already has a bit of Horizon League experience, as she spent the 08-09 and 09-10 seasons at the Green Bay Phoenix as the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations.

In her five seasons at Cedarville, she averaged a 73% win rate overall and a 76% win rate in conference play. She never had a losing season, and was always third place or higher in every league season, placing first three times.

Her first press conference will be held tomorrow at 11:30 tomorrow morning. The event will be closed to the public, but it can be watched on Facebook Live.
