Commuting to campus is reality for many students at Wright State University. So much so that students who live off campus may not be getting the most of being a member of the Raider community. Many students who do commute may not be aware of the amount of services that are available to them.

Luckily, the Commuter Student Association (CSA) has been revived and will help commuter students be more involved in Raider life.

Eli Smith, president of CSA, gave details on how the revival of this organization came about.

“I was contacted by Debbie Lamp, associate director of Student Activities, about getting it back to life to get more students involved in campus activities,” said Smith.

Students that commute often are not as involved in student life as those that live on campus during the year. A survey was sent early this month to commuting students about their thoughts and feelings about driving to campus and what they would like to the organization to provide.

Smith spoke further about the next steps that will be taken from the survey results phase of reviving the CSA.

“We are planning our first meeting in April and will decide on ideas for the organization through the summer. We are looking to having the CSA back next fall semester,” said Smith.

Smith aims to make the rebirth of CSA something commuting students will find very helpful as allow them more involvement in student actives.

“Our goal is to get commuting students to be more informed of special resources that are available to them such as the Motorist Assistance that we have on campus,” Smith added.

Student drivers can now be assured that they can experience the best of Raider life at Wright State and know that there are resources available that make commuting easier.
