The first few weeks of school can feel overwhelming with a new schedule, waking up early and homework, but one of the best ways to escape is with a new movie!
This September a handful of highly anticipated films are coming out. For any student looking to unwind and jump into another world, here are some new movies to check out.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
This exciting new Marvel movie releases Sept. 3. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Marvel describes the movie as a story that “stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.”
The film also stars Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Tony Leung, Meng’er Zhang, Ronny Chieng, Fala Chen and Florian Munteanu. The film will have an exclusive theatrical release for a forty-five-day period.
Cinderella
This new take on the classic Disney fairytale will be released on Sept. 3 on Amazon Prime Video. The modern princess story boasts a star-studded cast, including Camila Cabello, Billy Porter, James Corden, Minnie Driver, Idina Menzel, Pierce Brosnan and Missy Elliott.
“Cinderella” is directed by Kay Cannon. This film still holds many of the original story’s elements but has its own new touches. For example, Cinderella makes her own dresses and strives to be a business owner.
Queenpins
This playful comedy provides a female approach to the concept of a “kingpin” and will be released on Sept. 10. The film centers around friends Connie (Kristen Bell) and JoJo (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) who team up to create a humongous coupon scam that accumulates up to millions of dollars in fraud.
The movie also stars Vince Vaughn, Bebe Rexha, Leslie Jones and Joel McHale. “Queenpins” is directed by Gita Pullapilly and Aron Gaudet and will be showing in theaters soon.
