Miami Valley's La Piazza to shut down

On Saturday, Jan. 3, in the Miami Valley region of Troy, the locally owned La Piazza restaurant is planning to close its doors for good. La Piazza is well-known for its pizza, pasta, grill and other variety of choices offered to customers.

The history of the Anicoli business dates back to the owner’s Michael Anticoli’s grandparents when they first opened their restaurant in 1931. Since then it has been one of the longest running places in the Troy area.

“It was an emotional decision for the family,” Ric Moody, the commercial realtor for the Anicoli family’s restaurant said to the news outlet, according to a Whio report.

The owner, Michael Anticoli, confirmed the restaurant’s closing in an email Friday Night.

Comments have been appearing on La Piazza’s Facebook page by mournful customers, citing their nostalgic sentiments upon the restaurant’s news of shutting down in the last couple of days.

People are encouraged to show up Saturday night to see La Piazza’s remaining hours and share their favorite memories, according to a Dayton Daily News report.

Feel free to check out La Piazza’s Facebook page or their website and see what they have to offer one last time.
