Released this month on Netflix, “Triple Frontier” is a 2019 action-heist thriller film about five men preparing to track down a drug lord and kill him. However, the five men then decide that on top of killing him, they are going to rob him of an estimated 35 million dollars, split five ways.

Once the heist arrives, the men realize they have a chance at much more than 35 million dollars; tension arises and loyalty is tested as they must decide what to do.

The five men are each former members of the Army. Since their time, they have each had trouble moving on with their lives.

The leader of the group is portrayed by Oscar Isaac, followed by the team he assembles, made up of Ben Affleck, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund and Pedro Pascal.

This movie starts off very strong as viewers see Oscar Isaacs’ character in action, assembling his team to pull off the heist.

Throughout the whole movie, the entire team is portrayed excellently through their acting and superb chemistry.

Bringing his character, that struggles with PTSD and is adjusting to his new lifestyle, to the screen, Ben Affleck does the best job.

Once you get into the heist, it is very exciting, keeping the audience on the edge of their seat waiting to see if they get caught and are all able to make it out alive.

However, that is only the first 30 to 40 minutes of the movie. After the heist, it still leaves you with about an hour and a half of run time left.

The film really drags on but with about a half hour left, something big happens.

After that, the movie becomes incredibly boring and you, along with everyone else watching, will be scratching your head wondering what was written in the script.

The ending to this movie also seems forced because the filmmaker and writer seem to be setting up for a sequel.

After watching, I am not sure that this is a film that calls for a sequel and if one was made, it would feel very forced.

This will be a movie that, when watching, you might keep thinking to yourself that you’ve seen a better version before this. Movies like “Sicario” or any of the Ocean’s movies will come to mind.

Due to this being on Netflix however, I would probably recommend checking it out if you are a fan of the genre.

There are worse things to do on a rainy Saturday than watching this movie and if you don’t like it, you can always turn it off and switch to something else like “The Umbrella Academy” or “Stranger Things.”
