Organization Spotlight: Wright with Christ Club

In 2013 the organization Wright with Christ at Lake Campus. People from all denominations of Christianity can come together to read and discuss the word of God.

Students are encouraged to share their faith with other college students in a friendly and relaxed environment. Aside from participating in group meetings, Wright with Christ also offers opportunities for members to participate in Outreach across Campus.

The club’s advisor is Marj Hess, a Senior Lecturer of Mathematics at the Lake Campus. She, along with President Josiah Kramer and Secretary Tyler Klint, help to answer questions about the club and run the organization.

Wright with Christ members meet once a week throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.

According to Marj Hess, “The meetings are discussion-based in which we discuss hot topics and see what the Bible has to say about them.” They are one of the most active groups at the Lake Campus.

Students are sure to notice the Spirit Rock spray painted at the front of campus.

Throughout the semester the club will have group outings where they go bowling or to a restaurant together.

They also sponsor the Blood Drive at the Lake Campus four times a year, two each semester.

Wright with Christ members volunteer at the registration table for each drive and help students and faculty sign up for appointments.

For those who are hesitant about joining, Marj Hess takes the pressure away, “We are a nondenominational group, so anyone is welcome even if they are not religious in any way. Some in our group belong to Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal and Catholic churches.”

Students are able to meet members of Wright with Christ at Open Houses and Welcome Wednesday at the beginning of the school year.

Shannon McCabe, a member of Wright with Christ since Fall Semester 2019. “It has effected my education in the best way possible. It has never gotten in the way of any of my work, but has given me an extra outlet to meet other students on campus that are interested in learning and knowing God.”

According to the club, Wright with Christ is a wonderful place to explore God’s word and make connections with other students.
