On Oct. 15, Dr. Cheryl Schrader announced that she will be stepping down from her position as president of Wright State University effective Dec. 31.
Walt Branson, vice president for Finance and Operations and chief business officer, will also be stepping down.
According to a Dayton Daily News story, Provost Susan Edwards will serve as interim president.
In the email, Schrader stated, “I am announcing today my plan to retire from the position of President of Wright State University, effective December 31, 2019. During the next few months I will assist the Board of Trustees to ensure a smooth transition.”
According to the email, Schrader plans to retire and return to the classroom.
“It has been many years since I taught students on a daily basis, and frankly I discovered that I very much missed the classroom, particularly the opportunity to help shape the future, and I found these times with students to be both joyful and energizing,” said Schrader.
Spokesperson Seth Bauguess was unavailable for comment.
