As the cold weather keeps everyone inside, streaming services become more utilized. With a variety of different services to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide which platform to purchase or choose for the next movie night. 

Here are a couple of great or classic movies available on Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max and Paramount+ so you can better decide which service to tune into. 

Netflix

Netflix can be considered as the streaming service that inspired them all. It’s been around since 2007 and is filled with various TV shows and movies. Two classic movies that are available on Netflix are “Shutter Island” and “Rain Man.”

“Shutter Island” 

This film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo and is quite the mind-bender. Directed by Martin Scorsese, this movie is known for its impressive narration and phenomenal acting. 

“Rain Man” 

This classic film about two distant brothers stars Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. Hoffman won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Raymond Babbitt in this touching movie. 

Hulu

Two wonderful movies currently available on Hulu are “Black Swan” and “La La Land.”

“Black Swan” 

This film is known for its beautiful intensity, as viewers watch Natalie Portman portray a role as an extremely dedicated ballet dancer. Portman won an Oscar for Best Actress for her work in “Black Swan.”

“La La Land” 

This 2016 classic stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. The film follows their characters’ love for acting, music and one another. The film took home five Oscars in total, one for Emma Stone as Best Actress. 

HBO Max

Some exciting movies now streaming on HBO Max include “Life of Pi” and “The Dark Knight.”

“Life of Pi” 

This astounding story of a young boy’s journey will leave its audience in shambles. Covering topics like loss, the meaning of life and persistence, this film was adapted from the novel of the same name. 

“The Dark Knight” 

Known for Heath Ledger’s extreme and fantastic portrayal of the Joker, “The Dark Knight” captures audiences with its impressive acting and beautiful score. Christopher Nolan directed the film and Ledger posthumously won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. 

Paramount+ 

Paramount+ is a newer streaming service released this year in March. The platform has fun films such as “Almost Famous” and “Mean Girls” available to watch. 

“Almost Famous”

This 2000 film tells a coming-of-age story, centered around music and excitement. The film stars Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Jason Lee and Patrick Fugit. 

“Mean Girls” 

This modern American classic tells the story of Cady and her integration into a public high school. She learns the ropes of juggling academics, friends, popularity and mean girls. The film stars Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Tina Fey.
