UCIE to host discussion panel for International Education Week

The University Center for International Education (UCIE), Wright State’s Student Government and the International Cultural Exchange (ICE) will host a discussion panel featuring international students and faculty members.

The student and faculty panel members will start by sharing their experiences coming to the United States, said Fady Al-Banna, director of International Affairs for student government. Those who attend will then have the opportunity to ask the panelists questions about their experiences.

Al-Banna said he encourages students to go to the panel so they “can learn about what it is like to be an international student in the United States.”

There will also be some information tables for different organizations at the event.

“The African Student Union, the Saudi Student Association and LEAP (WSU’s intensive English program) will each have a table,” said Al-Banna.

Al-Banna also said the event is open to all Wright State students, faculty and staff and that light refreshments will be available.

The discussion panel is part of International Education Week. According to UCIE’s website, International Education Week is a partner project of the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Education and UCIE. It serves as an opportunity to “prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.”

The event will take place on Monday, Nov. 18 starting at 12:30 p.m. in the Student Union Atrium.
