With this spooky Halloween season almost coming to an end, it’s time to dive into the realm of conspiracy theories regarding Wright State University.

One of the most well-known conspiracy theories about Wright State is that the tunnels are haunted. Students feel creeped out when they are down there alone or when they explore a part of the tunnels they haven’t seen yet.

Think about it:

When you are down in the tunnels, don’t you get a weird feeling? Like someone is watching you, walking just behind you, following every turn you take. Maybe next time it snows, you’ll think twice about using the tunnels.

A theory less scary is that Rowdy, the beloved mascot, used to be an ostrich instead of a wolf. Nobody really knows when or how this conspiracy theory started, or if it is real, but remember it next time you see Rowdy at a basketball game or around campus. You could have been taking a picture with a six-foot ostrich, which is life size.

How many times do you walk past BART, formally known as Turning Points, a day?

There’s a conspiracy theory that there are cameras hidden in the statue from the spy school and that they record constantly. Recording everything, the cameras are said to cover the entire area of campus from the Student Union all the way to Millett Hall. Next time you walk by BART, give a friendly wave.

When it comes to area 51, there’s almost no debate over whether or not there are aliens there. But what about the Wright Patt Air Force Base?

One conspiracy theory is that the air force base near campus actually has aliens and that they are hiding them from the rest of the community. Why would the base want to hide aliens? Are they a danger to society or used for scientific research? Most of us will never know. Maybe students should plan a raid.

Lastly, it’s no secret that Wright State was named after the Wright Brothers. But have you heard that they haunt campus?

One conspiracy theory claims that the brothers walk around campus, taking in the school named after them. Are they friendly? Are they just here to watch? Or do they feel that Wright State has not honored them properly?

Next time you walk across campus or sit in your dorm, listen for the sound of them walking around and watch out for any ghostly figures in bowler hats.
