Wright State hosts Raider Open House

The Raider Open House had the biggest turnout of any event this academic year with 320 potential students along with their families making an appearance at the event, according to Jennifer McCamis, the director of admissions.

The Wright State Raider Open House was on Saturday, February 22. The Raider Open House is an event for new potential Wright State University students.

The event features many different events for visitors, according to Undergraduate Admissions at WSU.

What did the open house consist of

The Raider Open House started with a campus resource fair which gave visitors an opportunity to speak with Wright State faculty and students from various colleges, services, and organizations on campus.

Tours of campus and housing guided by current WSU students were given to visitors, according to Undergraduate Admissions.

The Open House had an application workshop where visitors could fill out their WSU applications without having to pay the application fee.

The event had financial aid advising available for potential students to get answers for all their financial aid concerns, according to Undergraduate Admissions.

‘The biggest turnout of any event this year’

The Raider Open House had an academic showcase of the Raj Soin College of Business, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, a Fine Arts Showcase, a Nursing Skills Laboratory, and the College of Science and Mathematics, according to Undergraduate Admissions.

“We had our highest number of volunteers from on campus ever. The campus community is really engaged in welcoming new students to campus,” said McCamis.

Many presentations were given during the event, such as presentations from the College of Education and Human Services, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Nursing and Health, the Raj Soin College of Business and the College of Science and Mathematics, according to Undergraduate Admissions.

There were also presentations on admissions, housing and campus living, pre-health advising and information, earning college credits during high school, transferring to Wright State, a session for admitted students and exploring and undecided majors, according to Undergraduate Admissions.

There are many upcoming events for potential new Wright State students including an admitted students night, the Liberal Arts experience, campus tours, and academic college visit days, according to Wright State’s webpage.
