WSU teams up with Five Rivers MetroParks for the Adventure Speaker Series

Five Rivers MetroParks hosted the founder of the largest kayak-paddling event in the Midwest at Wegerzyn Gardens.

Five River MetroParks hosts the Adventure Speaker Series in collaboration with Wright State University. Speakers of this series include locally and internationally known outdoor personalities and the events are open to the public.

Henry Dorfman, who founded the event known as “Paddlefest,” was a part of Five Rivers MetroParks’ Adventure Speaker Series.  Dorfman displayed pictures and footage from his most recent kayaking expedition to Alaska, where he paddled alongside sea lions and whales.

“[Kayaking] gets you closer to things you would have never otherwise have experienced,” Dorfman said.

He also named the Ohio, Mad and Great Miami Rivers as places where he enjoys going kayaking. Dorfman recently set a record by paddling across the five Great Lakes in five consecutive days.

Wright State will host the final speaker in this year’s adventure series on February 7, 2013 in the Student Union Apollo room. For more information visit www.metroparks.org/adventuresummit.
