As college students, it’s necessary to go out and have fun on the weekends, especially weekends in October. Here is a list of the exciting possibilities ranging from costume fun runs to haunted houses and mazes:

Halloween Haunt at Kings Island

Visit Kings Island in Mason, Ohio on any Friday or Saturday night in October to get the chance to try out several haunted houses, a haunted train ride and see spooky creatures lurking in the fog.

There will also be amusement park rides open for those who enjoy the thrill.

Online tickets can be as low as $33.99. Tickets bought at the front gate will be $52.99.

Dayton Scream Park

This year the Dayton Scream Park offers all-new attractions including haunted houses and scary mazes.

Some of the themes for the haunted houses include “rat trap” and “Hollywood.”

The Dayton Scream park features mazes twice the size as last year and more than 60 different spooky monsters.

The Scream Park is open from dark until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays through Nov. 2.

Haunted Wagon Rides at Young’s Jersey Dairy

This is a family-oriented event that is great for the whole family.

Don’t come to Young’s for the scares of your life; come for a great Halloween event to bring the kids to.

A Friday or Saturday night at Young’s consists of a spooky hayride into the woods followed by scary storytelling in the theatre. The event is from 7:30-10 p.m. on all Fridays and Saturdays in October.

It costs $12 for adults and children ages 5 and older. Ages four and under are $5.

8th Annual Fairborn Halloween Festival

Fairborn is hosting its 8th annual Halloween Festival this year from Friday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. to Sunday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.

The festival has much to offer including live music, food trucks, games, a Halloween-inspired parade, street vendors, a costume contest, trick-or-treat, a zombie walk and more.

The festival is a great place to spend a couple of hours on the weekend to get food and have a good time.

HallZOOween

Celebrate Halloween at the Cincinnati Zoo; there is something there for everyone.

The HallZOOween offers tons of activities including special animal encounters, the Beauty Shop of Horrors, Phil Dalton’s Theatre of Illusions show and Hogwarts express train rides.

These spooky events are going on through Oct. 27.

Horror Acres and Legends of Horror

Visit Horror Acres and discover why it is named one of the top 10 haunts in Springfield.

Some attractions include “The Horrorvator,” notorious horror film legends and many more exciting and spooky scares.

Horror Acres is open every Friday and Saturday during October.

The haunted house is $16, the maze is $10 and a ticket to both is $20.

Halloween Costume Fun Run

This Halloween-themed run is hosted by Miami County Public Health and presents a great way to run off Halloween candy.

It is a 2.5-mile run that starts at Scenic Treasure Island Park in Troy and goes along the Great Miami bike trail.

This is a free event and attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite costume.

The run will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Land of Illusion Haunted Scream Park

Offering six different haunted attractions with a variety of themes and scares.

The park is known for its haunted houses, wandering madmen, sweet treats and live entertainment. Don’t miss the chance to experience fright night at Land of Illusion.

These haunted attractions are open Friday-Saturday 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. and Thursday and Sunday 7-11 p.m. in October only.

These events start at $19.99.

Fall Fancy

Fall Fancy takes place at Snyder Park Clubhouse and is a great event for those 21 and older looking for a night out.

Operated and organized by Partners for Parks, the spooky event is inviting all who attend.

Organizers encourage attendees to put on a costume and a mask and enjoy the music and drinks offered at the event.

The Fall Fancy requires a ticket, so don’t wait too long to plan your night out.

Hocking Halloween Campout

This event is perfect for those planning a spooky weekend with their friends for Halloween.

From Oct. 25-27, Hocking Hills is providing a multitude of activities for registered campground guests including hayrides throughout the campgrounds, a campground decoration contest, costume parades, trick-or-treat and free Halloween movies.

With regular camping and cabin fees, guests can have a great camping experience and enjoy all the great activities that come with it!
