Some of the most popular college majors are in lesser demand — less demand means greater unemployment. However, some majors that are less-than-mainstream have unemployment rates as low as 0%, according to Georgetown University’s 2012 report from the Center on Education and the Workforce.

The job market works just like any other kind of market: it’s basis is supply and demand.
Generally, demand is greater for less popular occupations than for extremely popular ones.
Actuarial Science, Geological and Geophysical Engineering, and Astronomy and Astrophysics are among the least popular—and most employed—majors today. Many more popular majors fall into the fields of Psychology or Business, but employment tends to be lower in these common areas of study.
