Land of Illusion opens for fall 2013

The spooks will commence in early September, as the theme park Land of Illusion will re-open for the Halloween season.

The park is set to open Sept. 6.

When it first opened in the fall of 1997, the Land of Illusion was just a haunted maze in Middletown, OH. Over the years, Land of Illusion has expanded to more than 90 acres.

Land of Illusion is a haunted theme park located in Middletown, OH, about a 40 minute drive from Wright State. Visitors can go through five haunted mazes including the Temple Of Terror and Voodoo Bayou.

“I go every year for my birthday and it’s pretty scary,” said Andrew Bishop, a junior nursing major.

Visitors in the park can also follow the original Middletown Haunted trail or experience a new addition called Zombie Sniper Patrol. This attraction lets visitors shoot scare actors dressed as zombies with glow in the dark paint from paintball guns.

“This attraction is new this year and visitors can ride in a military tank and shoot at zombies,” said Mike Blackney, public relations specialist and advertiser for Land of Illusion.

Although the park is open for only 10 weeks, it draws more than 50,000 people each year.

Land of Illusion has also won a “Frightmaster” award from Hauntedhousetour.com for having the best experience out of all the haunted mazes and houses in the United States.

Land of Illusion kicks off their opening night Friday, September 6 from 8:00-11:30 p.m. Admission is $34.99 Friday and Saturday nights and $24.99 for Sunday nights.
