The Wright State University Police Department is currently investigating reports of personal items stolen from vehicles parked in Lots 4 and 6.
Three thefts occurred Oct. 3 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., according to WSU police.
WSUPD Sergeant Patrick Ammon speculated that the thefts were committed by those not affiliated with the university.
“People from the surrounding areas will come on campus and look for unsecured possessions,” Ammon said.
The cars broken into were locked, Ammon added.
Biomedical Engineering student Kay Harper strongly suggested that drivers lock their cars when they are parked in the campus lots.
“I never leave my car unlocked,” Harper said. “There are a lot of thieves around campus.”
The following safety tips were suggested by Ammon.
“Always secure your vehicle and lock valuables in your trunk or hidden out of view,” Ammon said. “If you observe criminal activity or suspicious behavior, notify the police immediately and be prepared to describe your observations to include where, what, when and who was involved.”
